Zeroscape

Zeroscape (often referred to as xeriscaping) is a landscaping approach that focuses on creating gardens and landscapes that require little or no irrigation, especially in arid or dry climates. The main goal is to minimize water use and reduce maintenance by utilizing drought-resistant and native plants.

The principles of zeroscape include:

  1. Proper planning: Designing the space with consideration of the climate and soil conditions.

  2. Plant selection: Choosing species that are native or require minimal water.

  3. Efficient water use: Implementing efficient irrigation systems and techniques like drip irrigation.

  4. Mulching: Applying a layer of organic or inorganic material on the soil to retain moisture and suppress weeds.

  5. Functional design: Creating spaces that are aesthetically pleasing and practical, using rocks, pathways, and other low-maintenance features.

Zeroscape not only helps conserve water but can also reduce costs and create sustainable environments.
